길을 찾아서

1969년 비틀즈의 원곡을 리메이크. 

비틀즈를 아는 사람이라면 이 곡은 완전히 존레논의 취향이라는 것을 쉽게 

알 수 있을 것이다. 가사의 말미에 붙은 Jai guru de va om은 산스크리트어로 쓰여진 독경같은 것인데, 뜻은 신이여 저에게 깨달음을 주소서라고 한다. 

비틀즈는 1968년에 인도에서 체류한 적이 있는데 아마 이 곡은 당시의 영향을 받았던 것으로 보인다.

이 곡은 비틀즈의 다른 곡들과 마찬가지로 많은 뮤지션들이 리메이크를 했는데,개인적으론 이 곡이 원곡의 분위기와 함께 뮤직비디오도 가사의 내용을 잘 살렸다고 보인다.

가사의 내용은 정말 한편의 시와 같이 아름답고 인생의 진리를 담고 있는 듯 하다.

최근에 복면가왕이나 히든싱어,불후의 명곡등에서 옛날 노래를 재조명하는 기회가 많다.

새로운 노래가 나올 수 있는 환경이 열악해지다보니 어쩔 수 없는 현상인 부분도 있지만, 예전 곡을 우려 먹는 것도 한계가 있을 것이고, 주로 어린 가수들이 커버를 하다 보니 연륜에서 나오는 스타일이 없어서 원곡과 비교하면 그 맛이 한참 떨어지는 경우가 많다.

님은 먼 곳에는 신중현이 당시 제자였던 김추자에게 주어서 공전의 히트를 친 곡이다.

곡 자체가 워낙 좋고, 김추자의 스타일이랄까 하는 부분은 지금 들어봐도 독보적이다.

신중현의 곡들을 듣다 보면, 진짜 천재란게 이런거구나 하는 생각이 든다.
