이 곡은 로라 브래니건의 음악 커리어상 정점을 찍었던 1984년 발표한 동명의 앨범 Self Control에 수록되었다.
엄청난 성량을 기본으로 한 파워풀한 보칼은 비교할 수 없는 시원함을 안겨준다.
미모와 끼가 대단했던 그녀는 배우로도 활동하면서 활발하게 활동하다가 1994년 남편이 대장암 판정을 받은뒤 은퇴하였으며,
남편이 사망할 때까지(1996년 남편 사망) 헌신적인 간호를 한다.
이후 2001년 활동을 재개하였다가 2004년 자신의 집에서 자는 도중 뇌 동맥류에 의해 53세의 나이에 사망하게 된다.
